Acid Jazz Music
By Jan Waring

Popularly known as club music, Acid jazz music combines jazz influences with elements of soul music, funk and disco.

Creating Acid Jazz Music

Acid jazz music developed in the 1980s and 1990s. It was intended for clubbers who love to dance and who also enjoy tuneful jazz. Its catchy melodies make anyone get up and onto the dance floor.

Gilles Peterson is largely credited for the acid jazz invention. When a fellow DJ made him listen to an acid house mix, he compared the changes he had brought to jazz with the changes in the house music and named his creation acid jazz music.

Acid jazz music caught on very quickly in the United States and soon went international to the UK and other parts of Europe. Known artists who have contributed in making acid jazz music a success include Galliano, Incognito, Jazzanova and the James Taylor Quartet.
