Listen to Free Jazz Music
By Jan Waring

Just like Thanksgiving dinner at grandmas, or a day at the ball park, jazz music has always been an American institution. Listening to jazz music is one of those things that most people have spent time doing at some point in their lives.

When music is offered at no cost it is even more enjoyable. In fact, it can become a win-win situation for both the listener and the musician.

Locally

One of best places to listen to free jazz music is at the free summer concerts that are offered by many cities and towns. Many hometowns host free concerts of all kinds of music. Theres really nothing better than to sit on the cool grass under the shade tree and let the stars serenade you

Clubs

While weekends are usually reserved for paid concerts, check out the local jazz club on a weekday night. These places often have the house band playing some wonderful music Monday through Thursday as a backdrop to a relaxing evening. Chances are you'll be able to listen to free jazz music while you dine on some great food.

Schools

Another great way to listen to free jazz music is to check out the local high school jazz ensemble. All year long, these students work hard to learn the foundations of great jazz. By the time April or May roll around, they offer great concerts. Perhaps the next Birdman is waiting in the first chair at the jazz ensemble concert.

Friends

Another great way to broaden your horizons without spending a penny is to raid your friends' music collection, and allow him to raid yours. Invite a few fellow jazz aficionados over, and have everyone bring their favorite tunes for an evening of pure bliss. There isnt a better way to listen to free jazz music.
